We prioritise giving the children fresh air and space to run around freely (within certain boundaries) and discover their physical abilities. We visit local parks which have numerous obstacles and climbing frames to challenge the older children with the safety of having staff observing and supervising. We also incorporate nature trails so the children can experience nature first hand. We always encourage the children to look for different things when we are out, or engage them in learning by looking out for letters and signs. We take various materials outside with us to set up outdoor activities.
We also make regular visits to local places such as the green grocers, the post office, our local farm, the supermarket and the library to enable the children to continue to experience their local community.
We offer ample space and opportunities for the children to enjoy their physical play activities. Encouraging children to take part in physical play is all about being creative and using imagination. Children learn about their abilities through play which is why staff plan varied physical play activities. Examples include obstacle courses, jumping and skipping games, catching bubbles games, playing with large construction toys, ball games, parachute and ribbon games, dancing to all sorts of music, learning and performing action songs, balancing games and stepping stones. We also have numerous, cars, bikes and trikes, a small trampoline, climbing frames, slides and lots of soft play equipment. |
