We have our own cook and a fully equipped kitchen. Every day the children are served a freshly prepared hot lunch and an afternoon tea. Fresh fruit snacks are provided in between meals and breakfast is served from 7am - 8.30am every morning. The menu is carefully planned to ensure it is healthy, well balanced and meets our target of five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Children with any dietary requirements are catered for by our cook. Where possible our meat is bought from a local butcher and fruit and vegetables sourced from a local grocer. The children have access to drinking water at all times of the day.
We encourage healthy eating and make each meal or snack a social and interactive occasion. The older children have the opportunity to prepare food, especially making special treats for the afternoon tea. To encourage the children to taste new foods, we plan tasting sessions. This also gives us the opportunity to talk about where the food comes from.
Each month we have a new seasonal fruit and vegetable included in the menu. The cook uses the fruit and vegetable in the menu so the children can taste them. The children also help the cook display the menu in reception by making paintings, pictures and taking photos of the monthly fruit and vegetable. |
